Clubbing in San Francisco is not easy for those of us who have seen it all and just want to dance. Let's say, you are around 30, and you still love to listen to good DJs, have a good time and dance your butt off on an occasion.

All great, but...

At some clubs, you have to stand in artificially long lines just to get in. At others, you have to deal with boneheaded bouncers. When you finally get in, at most large clubs you are surrounded by either doped-out asian youngsters or bridge-and-tunnel crowd, who are spilling their Long Island ice teas on you as they squeeze up front to the DJ, just to whistle to the tunes, and you can hardly get a drink of your own, as the bars are overcrowded, not to mention overpriced. Most likely, it is all of the above.

Enter Mighty. What a breath of fresh air in the San Francisco club scene. This place can be described in just 2 words: Intelligent Clubbing. People really come here for the music, and this place delivers.

Tucked away in a cozy corner of the Mission district, this place is for those "in the know" and in search of good atmosphere, fantastic acoustics, beautiful interior, and polite staff. Not to mention the fact that they get world class DJs. At this place alone, I have seen Carl Cox, Menno de Jong, Markus Schulz, Lee Burridge, just to mention the few.

True, the overall hip-hoppization of the clubbing scene has not avoided this place, and it's all fair as long as there is demand for it. But on the nights of techno and house music, this place has really become my favourite.

I recommend Mighty to anyone, even if you do not like big clubs. We, the intelligent clubbers, are fortunate to have this place in San Francisco.

Mighty is a venue that's tucked away in Potrero and home to a variety of events. Something about this venue encourages an open and friendly feel with a very non-pretentious attitude. For me the crowd a venue attracts makes all the difference in the world outside of the music. Well, actually the sound is VERY important to me as I still run sound systems from time to time and have a very discerning ear for good audio installations. Mighty recently rebuilt the entire system and like woah is it good. Your ears won't bleed and you will be gut punched by wicked accurate audio. Decor is high ceilinged, exposed brick, with hardwood floors providing a warm and spacious feeling. The bar serves up strong drinks at fair prices, but you won't find VIP service here.

Mighty is a venue for lovers of the music and connaisseurs of good sound systems that has a very vintage loft like feel and a dance floor framed by towering speakers. No joke about the speaker stacks as they're over 10ft tall. If you're in need of a venue to rent for your corporate party or product launch Mighty should be at the top of your list. I've been to .com//tech events here nearly as much as I've been to underground styled late night club nights and all have been great.

Love, love, love Mighty! It's so super chill here. If you want a place to come kick back in your Chucks/Vans and a hoodie, this is the place. I've been to a variety of parties, from a break dancing competition to a live concert featuring the fan-tabulous j*DaVeY from LA. The scene is definitely more indie, but the people are cool. Bartenders are super friendly and welcoming. The sound system is amazing, especially for live shows. The lighting is dim and sexy, providing the perfect ambiance. Check out their website for current events. 2/28/2008 3:32:36 AM

I went here to see Sleazemore, Juan Maclean and Tommy Sunshine. First glance standing in front of the building I was worried what I was getting myself into. Upon entering the building I was blow away. Huge ceilings, brick walls, art on the walls. When things got kicked off the lighting set the ambiance and the sound system was superb. The venue can probably hold around 600, it was maybe half way packed, but the vibe was great. Have to give a huge thumbs up for the bar staff (they have 3 bars I guess, but only 1 was open) they were rockin it all night. I would definitely like to attend another party here in the future. 1/28/2008 2:56:33 PM
