My first order of business when moving to San Francisco was finding a good chop house. Bobo's was an answer to my prayers. Although the decor is a bit eclectic the food is fantastic and can hold its own with any of its more renowed contempories (i.e. Peter Luger's NYC) or the more upscale chains (Morton's or Ruth's Chris). I was also impressed with the service. I found the wait staff to be very professional and attentive. Be certain to order the bone-in filet mignon (check when making a reservation). |

I searched for eVelvetRope member recommended restaurants in the Marina and came across Bobo's. I did a quick read of the description and was caught by the fact that they age their meat 4 to 6 weeks. That intriqued me so I decided to check it out. The interior of Bobo's is interesting. Red walls, plum color seating and "antique-ish" accents give this place a very cozy feel. Although this is a steak house, they are known for their crab as well. I decided to go with the Surf and Turf. Crab and Filet Mignon. The Filet was among the best I've had. Since Filet Mignon is one of the leanest cuts, it can lack flavor. This one did not have such problems. It was perfect. The crab was great too but I soon remembered why I typically don't order crab. Too much work for the pay off ;) I actually was still quite hungry after my meal so I actually ordered another entree. I ordered the Filet Mignon again (it was that good). The person waiting on us (Sarah) did a fantastic job. I would definitely recommend this place. If you're looking for sexy ambiance then try somewhere else but if you're looking for great food and a cozy atmosphere, Bobo's will do just fine. |
