When I need to impress a client with lunch Aqua is the natural choice. The décor is high-end minimalist without being neither futuristic nor retro, the service is impeccable and the food – intriguing. I would not come to Aqua ravenously hungry – the portion sizes are what one would expect at a restaurant which caters to businessmen who want to get a lot of conversation in between courses. Nor would I venture there with a closed mind – the dishes, particularly the appetizers, are rather creative and eclectic. Once you do get that wonderfully presented, freshly prepared morsel, however, chances are you’ll be in for a treat. While my favorites are the melon ravioli and the abalone, I’ve yet to be disappointed. Finally, be sure to order their blooming tea, it’s the perfect way to wrap up a tasty meeting. |

Just had dinner at Aqua a little bit ago for my first time and everything about it was AMAZING! Great service, incredible food, and enjoyed things not even on the menu. It was an awesome night out (a long one at that with so many courses). I highly, highly recomend it. |

I may be biased because I think I am Aquaman, but I think this place is pretty good.
I went here with the 'entourage' and we all had a fantastic lunch. I had the hamachi followed by the scallops and loved them. A glass of Sav Blanc and Aquaman was happy. The tartare, the seabass and the mushroom soup also got rave reviews.
It is pricey for sure, but if you are going on a business lunch - or are just a pimped-out fake movie star, this place is perfect.

At the bar, order the classic Tuna Tartar ( off the menu item) with a bottle of tasty white vino and enjoy one of the great dishes in SF. |

Maybe my palate is unrefined...maybe I didn't go to culinary school...but why does one ingredient in EVERY dish make me want to send the plate back?? A gorgeous restaurant with outstanding service...but with totally unaccesible food...I challenge anyone to recognize all the ingredients in any one dish. This restaurant is a HUGE success and is always packed but I simply just don't "get" the food. |
