I went here with a friend last week and we came just as the place was closing, but they happily seated us anyway. We had the calamari, edamame, Jess's favorite roll and some other delight that I can't remember. Jess's favorite roll was SO good and the calamari was the perfect texture, not too chewy and fried just right. I also had the Mas Tini (recommended by the bartender) and thought it was a great choice. We had excellent service, esp. for coming in so late. I highly recommend this place!

Mas Sake is not a typical Japanese restaurant hence the free-style sushi. I think the Chef has a fun take on Japanese food and I'm anxious to try more dishes. The Bartender concocted a shot off the menu that sent me and my girls back to the bar for many more! I enjoyed my time with staff and patrons alike.

Always a good time. The sushi isn't the greatest- but its good enough. The overall experience is what makes this restaurant what it is. Good cocktails, good music, friendly service (not necessarily the best service, but who cares?). I come here with friends when I want a few drinks, a bit of sushi and a fun environment where we can be as loud as we want and yet, the table next to us is probably even louder! My only other complaint is that the restaurant is a bit too small.

I love this place! You must try Evil eye, Jess favorite and Nikki Boom Boom. If you like tradionaly sushi this is not the spot - I've had sushi in Japan and this is not similar at all - Mas Sake puts a California spin on it for sure by adding mangos, peppers, avocado etc. Cool spot with a good crowd usually stylish and under 40.

Why is everyone so hard on this place? It is what it is... a good time.

Who cares if the sushi waitresses look like Hooter girls? Guys like that right? So the sushi is not 5 star. It is better than Tokyo Express or the stuff you get at the Safeway deli. So what they have a door guy - at a restaurant? It makes you feel safe.

What it is... loud, obnoxious, good times. A perfect place (though too small) to start off a party night with a little something in your tummy, good tunes and MAS SAKE!

I was there the other night with friends and I'd say it's a baddass, energetic, upbeat place! The dj was great although it was tough to chat since the music was so loud The crunchy california roll was the best roll accompanied by blue moons ...The server was really nice and I felt very welcomed and at-home here .. the decor in the lady's room is exhilirating. Everyone is young, fresh and breezy. It was some girl's birthday and she was drunk at the end of the night and she ran away from her friends as her dress was falling off which was quite comical. I would say an overall fun carefree atmosphere and I'll be back for sure.

Nice ambiance, decent sake list, but terrible sashimi. I ate there early last Sat and was very disappointed by the food. I live only 3 blocks away and won't be eating there again. Sake Bombs? Sure.

I hate to write a bad review. But the sushi falls apart ..... somewhat attractive staff does not make for good service. Go for drinks ;)

The mediocre sushi is made up for by the club vibe you feel when dining here. The waits can be long so it's better to go with drinks and appetizers in mind as opposed to a full dinner.

Great sushi! Hot waitress'! An ultra clean and modern vibe! A must for a convenient bite before an evening out in S.F.!

The service can be a bit slow (especially if you order the fish tacos), but the food is well worth the wait! And while you are waiting for their delicious Ecstacy Rolls (the best thing on the menu) to come out of the kitchen there are plenty of good looking patrons and waitresses alike to keep you busy. The atmosphere is dark and sultry, heated up by the DJ spinning loud beats over the roar of the crowd.

It may not look like much from the outside, but this restaurant is off the hook on weekend nights! The majority of the menu items are delicious [I'd go so far as to recommend the Dragon, Spider, and Spicy Marisa rolls]. Still, pick with flavor in mind because some of the entres can be lackluster when it comes to taste-appeal. The sake bombs are not to be missed. Made with hard raspberry cider, it's an incredibly well-thought alternative to traditional beer. Mas Sake attracts a young professional and college crowd, and is strategically located walking distance from some great Marina hotspots, such as the Triangle Bars, Matrix, Circa, Gravity, and Union Street. I would NOT recommend late night dinner at Mas Sake if you're seeking a quiet atmosphere. With the DJ playing and the amount of people eating and drinking from 8 o'clock on, it can be hard to manage a conversation. But if you're looking for a party with a bunch of like-minded friends, it's the perfect venue.

I recntly had my B-day dinner here. It was a bit chaotic but it always is with large groups. The hostess Nicole is amazing and worked really hard for my party. High energy and so much fun. I don't remember the meal part due to the strong drinks being served to me, Had the food before though and it's decent. Not the place to go if you're looking for top notch sushi but definately the place to go for high energy, a good crowd, great music, and an all together good time....

I went to Mas Sake a couple months ago for a birthday get together and LOVED it!! Im a big sushi eater, but also love nightlife. Mas Sake has the perfect combination of both, topped off with excellent service. Sushi modernized just enough to satisfy a night out!!

I recently visited Mas Sake for the first time. A big group of us went there on a Saturday evening to celebrate a birthday. The place was very busy and it took quite some time for us to be seated (despite having a reservation). I started to believe that we had made a bad decision in coming here with such a big group. Even the basic task of navigating from one side of the restaurant to the other became a "mini-mission". However, once we were seated, I quickly warmed up to the place. Mas Sake is more like a club than it is a restaurant. The wait staff are all very striking and it is obvious that they didn't get there by accident. While I have had better sushi else where, the energy exuded by the place more than made up for it. If you're going just for the food there are other options, however, if you want to enjoy food AND the 'scene'. Not many places do it better.
