Ate at the bar at Bong Su and thought it was phenomenal. Tried the Bong Su platter, the salt and pepper calamari and the shaking beef. All were great and at least as good or better than slanted door.
The real standout was the bartender Joseph. He was helpful with wine pairings (couldn't resist as I was sitting facing their beautiful wine cellar), and even gave us tastes on the house to compliment the delicious chocolate dessert. Also was very engaging and had a great sense of humor. At one point in the meal he handed me a balloon glass he was swirling and asked me to sniff inside and tell him what it was. As I breathed in the rich sweet aroma, the mysteriously direct link between the olfactory sense and memory led me to instantly say "home" -- to which Joseph replied, "that's strange you must have grown up around fresh plumeria flowers (Bong Su) and rare aged tequilas."
Nailed that one.
